SpaceX Announces Acquisition of Low-Frequency Spectrum, Starlink to Become Major U.S. Mobile Carrier
On October 9, an official SpaceX announcement stated that SpaceX has signed an agreement to acquire a batch of nationwide low-band (approximately 800 MHz) spectrum licenses, paving the way for Starlink to enter the U.S. mobile carrier market. Combined with its existing second-generation satellite constellation, Starlink Mobile will provide users across the country with high-speed mobile broadband service featuring coverage without dead zones. It is reported that each of Starlink’s latest V3 satellites has a downlink capacity of up to 1 Tbps, which is 10 times that of the previous generation, with an uplink capacity of 160 Gbps, 22 times greater than that of its predecessor.
