Blockchain.com Applies for US CFTC License, Plans to Offer Prediction Markets and Crypto Derivatives Trading Services
On October 9, according to CNBC, digital asset platform Blockchain.com has submitted two license applications to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), with plans to launch event contracts and cryptocurrency derivative trading for U.S. retail and institutional clients.
Blockchain.com is applying for a Designated Contract Market (DCM) license to operate as a futures exchange, while also applying to register as a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM). Previously, the platform had already partnered with Polymarket to provide prediction market services to select international users, and offers perpetual contract trading via Hyperliquid. Additionally, in May, Blockchain.com confidentially filed an Initial Public Offering (IPO) application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), aiming to go public this year with a target valuation of $4 billion to $6 billion.
