US Treasury Secretary: May Seize $1 Billion in Iran-Linked Cryptocurrency This Week
On October 9 that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated at a news conference in Washington that the Trump administration is going beyond traditional financial sanctions to implement an "absolute isolation campaign" against Iran. In addition to imposing a maritime blockade to cut off its oil exports, restricting international air travel, and coordinating with neighboring countries to block land routes, the U.S. plans to seize approximately $1 billion worth of cryptocurrency assets this week to completely cut off the regime's access to external financial resources and international markets.
