Xie Jiayin Responds to TiDB Cloud Database Incident: No User Sensitive Data Leaked, Service Discontinued Over Two Months Ago
On October 20, Xie Jiayin, head of Greater China for Bitget, stated in a post that investigations confirmed hackers breached and obtained data from the TiDB Cloud database product under PingCAP. Bitget, along with companies such as Baidu, had previously collaborated with the company. He clarified that Bitget had only stored a portion of publicly available trade log data in the database (i.e., data visible to all users on the trade channel), and had ceased using the related service over two months ago. The incident did not involve any user data, nor were there any leaks of passwords or other sensitive information.
Prior reports indicated that PingCAP databases and client information were allegedly stolen by hackers, involving companies such as Bitget and Pionex.
