On October 20 that, according to Cointelegraph, crypto advocacy group Stand With Crypto stated that over a 90-day period from May to August 2026, a total of 9,803 individuals submitted 10,092 complaints regarding cryptocurrency platform transfer restrictions to UK banks via its online tool. Of these, Lloyds Banking Group received 2,297 complaints, Barclays received 1,569, and NatWest Group received 1,278.

The report indicates that different banks enforce significantly varying restrictions on crypto transfers. Barclays and HSBC UK are listed with a single transaction limit of £2,500 and a rolling 30-day cumulative limit of £10,000; six banks, including Starling Bank, TSB, and Chase UK, are listed as completely prohibiting crypto-related transfers.

Stand With Crypto also pointed out that Lloyds Banking Group and Revolut lack publicly disclosed policies regarding crypto transfer restrictions, yet still received user complaints. These disputes emerge as the UK prepares to implement a new digital asset regulatory framework in 2027.
