Israeli Media: Iran Could Respond to Qatar's New Proposal as Early as Thursday
On October 29 that, according to Jinshi Data, Israeli broadcaster i24NEWS has learned Qatar is awaiting Tehran's response to a new proposal, with Iran expected to reply as early as Thursday.
Two regional diplomats revealed that under the current proposal, Iran would need to take concrete measures regarding its nuclear program in exchange for the US easing certain sanctions and unfreezing some funds. Measures under consideration include reinstating IAEA inspectors' access to conduct checks at various Iranian nuclear facilities.
The report noted that the main obstacle in US-Iran negotiations stems from Iran's insistence on lifting the blockade and moderately easing sanctions before addressing the nuclear issue, whereas the Trump administration demands that Iran take action on the nuclear front during the first phase of talks. A senior US official told i24NEWS that the United States will not attack Iran under any circumstances ahead of the midterm elections.
