L2BEAT Renamed to ETHBEAT, Expanding Scope from Ethereum Layer 2 to the Entire Ecosystem

Nov 4, 18:09

On November 4 that, according to an official announcement from ETHBEAT (formerly L2BEAT), the organization has officially changed its name from L2BEAT to ETHBEAT to reflect its expanded scope from Ethereum Layer 2 to the broader Ethereum ecosystem. ETHBEAT stated that this renaming does not signify an abandonment of Layer 2 research; rather, it will continue monitoring L2s while deepening its research on privacy, interoperability, tokens, zero-knowledge proofs (ZK), and native Rollups, with future expansions planned for the liquid staking domain.

ETHBEAT noted that since Ethereum base layer protocols are directly addressing scalability and Layer 2 projects are increasingly developing into specialized on-chain applications, its research focus will shift to evaluating whether Ethereum ecosystem projects truly inherit Ethereum's core security attributes—such as censorship resistance, open-source development, privacy, and security—and identifying which intermediaries users genuinely need to trust.

Additionally, ETHBEAT announced the launch of the CROPS guide to list ecosystem projects that comply with relevant principles. The organization stated that it will continue to help users identify and reduce their reliance on intermediaries through technical research, risk assessments, open-source tools, and the development of industry standards.
