BIT: Joins Hands with AMINA to Expand Switzerland's Digital Asset Market
Hong Kong, November 2, 2026 — During Hong Kong Fintech Week, BIT (formerly Matrixport), a global digital asset financial services group, and AMINA (Hong Kong) Limited, a subsidiary of AMINA Bank AG — which is regulated by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) — co-hosted the "AMINA Unites × BIT" high-level networking event at The Upper House in Hong Kong. The event brought together representatives from financial institutions, asset managers, family offices and the digital asset industry to jointly explore trends in the digital asset market and new opportunities for institutional investment.
Set against the Hong Kong city skyline, the event provided a platform for in-depth exchange among representatives from traditional finance and the digital asset sector, with discussions centered on two core questions: How are financial institutions reshaping the digital asset market? And how will digital assets transform institutional portfolios?
New Developments in the Institutional Digital Asset Market
As digital asset regulatory frameworks in major global financial centers mature, institutional-grade custody infrastructure continues to improve, and institutional investors' demand for regulated digital asset investment products keeps growing, digital assets are gradually being integrated into the traditional financial system. These trends were also a key focus of discussion among guests that evening.
Among them, a recent important regulatory development in Switzerland's digital asset sector drew considerable attention. The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) approved the Bitcoin fund ETF (ticker: BBIT). As Switzerland's first exchange-traded fund (ETF) to invest directly in Bitcoin, BBIT is also currently the only spot Bitcoin ETF in Europe. Unlike traditional exchange-traded products (ETPs), BBIT adopts a Swiss collective investment scheme structure, under which fund assets are legally segregated from the fund management company, providing investors with asset protection mechanisms under Switzerland's existing fund regulatory framework while avoiding the issuer credit risk involved in debt-based products.
Cynthia Wu, Founding Partner and Chief Business Officer of BIT, said:
"FINMA's approval of BBIT is an important milestone in BIT's development and a significant step forward for institutional digital asset investment in Switzerland. We believe that for institutional investors, where assets are held, what legal structure is used, and which regulatory framework they are subject to are becoming increasingly important. BBIT combines these key elements through asset-segregated custody mechanisms under a Swiss-domiciled investment fund structure, in-kind BTC subscription arrangements, and access channels in traditional financial markets. This also reflects our long-term commitment to connecting traditional finance with the digital asset market. By joining hands with AMINA and combining BIT's asset management capabilities with the advantages of Swiss bank custody services, we will work to expand more investment avenues for institutional investors."
During the event, guests also exchanged views on the trend of integrating institutional capital with Web3 innovation in major financial centers such as Hong Kong and Switzerland. As regulated fund structures and institutional-grade custody infrastructure continue to develop, institutional participation in the digital asset market is gradually moving from early-stage investment exploration toward a new phase that places greater emphasis on compliance, risk management and long-term value.
