A Bitcoin Ancient Miner Moves 500 BTC After 13 Years of Dormancy, Now Worth Over $31 Million
August 3rd, according to EmberCN monitoring, an ancient Bitcoin mining address transferred 500 long-dormant BTC about half an hour ago, worth approximately $31.27 million.
The data shows that these 500 BTC, collected from mining rewards in 2013, have been inactive for over 13 years. At the time, the price of Bitcoin was around $1,020, making the 500 BTC worth about $510,000.
Reportedly, $1,020 was one of the peak prices for Bitcoin around 2013, and it was not until 2017 that the BTC price re-entered the $1,000 range, indicating that this address went through a "hodling" period of about three to four years. Currently, this batch of BTC has increased in value by about 60 times compared to that year.
