Trump-Linked Bitcoin Mining Firm American Bitcoin President Resigns, Joins AI Energy Infrastructure Company
August 3rd, American Bitcoin (ABTC), a Bitcoin mining company associated with the Trump family, announced that President and Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Matt Prusak will resign on August 4th and join Giga Energy, an AI and energy infrastructure company, as Chief Business Officer and Interim CFO.
Prusak stated that after "years of building a Bitcoin business," he will transition to the upstream energy infrastructure sector, focusing on the current electricity supply issues restricting Bitcoin mining and AI computation development.
American Bitcoin, co-founded by Eric Trump and backed by Hut 8, is a Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin mining company. Prusak was previously responsible for driving the company's Bitcoin accumulation strategy, including expanding hash rate capacity and increasing BTC holdings per share.
Headquartered in Houston, Giga Energy primarily develops power equipment and AI data center infrastructure. The company stated that it has already delivered over 6.5GW of power infrastructure and is developing over 500MW of AI data center capacity.
Industry insiders believe that Prusak's move reflects the Bitcoin mining industry's accelerating shift toward the AI infrastructure sector. As mining businesses face increasing competition and margin pressure, more and more mining companies are leveraging their own power resources, land reserves, and data center capabilities to enter the AI hash rate infrastructure market.
With large tech companies competing for power and data center capacity, energy supply has become a core bottleneck for AI computing expansion, with companies possessing power resource integration capabilities receiving more attention.
