DeepSeek's second round of funding of 50 billion dollars opens for subscription today, with a minimum investment threshold of 5 billion dollars.
According to CoinWatch Monitor, DeepSeek's second round of financing has entered the signing stage.
The first group of investors is set to sign in Hangzhou as early as today. This round is aiming to raise 50 billion RMB with a target valuation of 500 billion RMB. DeepSeek has also set a minimum investment threshold of 5 billion RMB for most of the prospective investors.
This funding round was previously paused. In mid-July, DeepSeek started engaging with new investors, but the process was temporarily halted after internal discussions were leaked online. The fundraising resumed at the beginning of August.
DeepSeek had just completed its first round of financing in June, raising over 50 billion RMB. Based on the latest disclosures, the valuation has increased by over 40% in a little over a month. The new funds will mainly be allocated to computing power, including the construction of its own data centers, as well as preparation for future model development and potential domestic IPO.
Some sovereign wealth funds and companies in the industry chain have already locked in their shares for this round, with the earliest closing date set for August 30th. Part of the funds will directly enter DeepSeek's main entity, while the rest will be channeled through a limited partnership platform controlled by Liang Wenfeng.
