Singapore police: Some Ledger hardware wallets sold at local retail stores were maliciously tampered with
October 30 — According to a notice on the Singapore Police Force website, Singapore police have issued a warning that since September 10 they have received at least two cases involving tampered Ledger cryptocurrency hardware wallets, with combined losses of about S$3.5 million. Preliminary investigations show that some Ledger hardware wallets purchased at retail stores in Singapore contained malicious hardware components capable of stealing users' seed phrases or private keys and moving assets without the users' knowledge. Police have contacted Ledger, which is reviewing the cases, and investigations are ongoing. Police advised users to stop using devices suspected of being tampered with, generate new seed phrases on unaffected devices and transfer their remaining assets.
