U.S. Military Prepares War Plan Against Iran After Trump Repeatedly Vetoes and Later Revives Plan
On Oct. 9, citing Jinshi Data, that The New York Times, quoting US officials, stated that despite Trump's contradictory stance on restarting the war, the US military remains in preparation for large-scale military options against Iran. Three aircraft carriers are scheduled to arrive in the Middle East, and the Pentagon has drafted plans to target Iran's drone sites, missile depots, energy infrastructure, and Revolutionary Guard Corps command posts.
Over recent months, the US national security team and the Pentagon have proposed large-scale action plans targeting Iran or the Houthis five times, all of which were vetoed by Trump. However, he subsequently ordered the activation of strike contingency plans once more, and Vice President Vance convened senior officials at Camp David last Friday to discuss them. The plan's core objective is to launch a short-term, high-intensity campaign lasting roughly three days.
In his latest comments, Trump indicated that productive discussions are underway between the United States and Iran, explicitly committing to avoid any attacks on Iran ahead of the midterm elections.
