Tether Freezes THORChain-Associated USDT Vault Without Warning

Oct 10, 03:14

On October 10, according to Cointelegraph, THORChain technical co-founder Chad Barraford accused stablecoin issuer Tether of freezing USDT vault addresses within its network without prior warning. Barraford noted that Tether blacklisted four wallet addresses containing approximately 1.45 million USDT, leaving the related assets halted for about two hours before transactions were resumed two days later.

Although Tether subsequently lifted the restrictions, the incident did not prompt an official explanation. Barraford revealed on X platform that he had not received any communication from Tether prior to the action, knew little about the decision, and is currently actively seeking to open a dialogue with Tether. He expressed hope that the move was simply due to a misunderstanding or operational error, but as of now, Tether has not issued a public statement regarding the matter.
