Trump in the Past 24 Hours: On Iran, Tariffs, and Oil & Gas Fields

Oct 24, 20:33

On October 24, according to Jinshi Data, Trump made several statements over the past 24 hours regarding the situation in Iran, US-Canada tariffs, and UK energy projects. He stated that the US is engaged in constructive negotiations with Iran and will not attack it before the midterm elections; when informed by the US ambassador to Turkey that an attack over the weekend might occur, Trump claimed he was “unaware,” while also noting that another small-scale “Operation Epic Fury” could be possible.

Regarding trade, the US government announced a 50% tariff exemption on certain imported Canadian goods, including blueberries, potatoes, apples, seaweed, plastic crates, packaging materials, refrigeration equipment, and packaging machinery; these tariffs were previously imposed after US-Canada negotiations collapsed at the end of August. Trump also noted that the US exported more oil last week than prior to the conflict, and that Iran is currently facing inflation.

Additionally, Trump stated that he has not yet discussed with Musk the issue of restrictions on Ukraine’s use of “Starlink,” adding that further communication would occur if problems persist. The UK government noted that Trump discussed the approval of the Jackdaw gas field with Prime Minister Bernam, with both sides agreeing that the decision would benefit the UK.
