On October 28, the DTCC Tokenization Service officially launched, initially supporting the tokenization of 34 types of securities. The DTC currently holds approximately $30 trillion in custodial assets, with each token backed 1:1 by securities held by the DTC and carrying identical legal and ownership rights to those underlying securities. Tokenized assets use a single CUSIP, enabling 24/7 on-chain peer-to-peer transfers between DTC-registered wallets. The service features built-in compliance controls and supports near-real-time ownership tracking. It currently connects to approved blockchain networks such as Besu and Canton Network, with additional networks slated for integration by 2027, according to the webpage.
