October 3 — U.S. President Trump has once again promised that if Republicans win the House and Senate in the midterm elections, every American adult citizen will receive a $5,000 "dividend."

This plan had previously been proposed by Trump and remains a campaign promise. When a reporter asked whether the money would require congressional approval, Trump once said: "Well, we don't think it does. If it does, they'll certainly do it, but we don't think it's necessary. However, we have one precondition, and that is the funds must be spent within the United States — we don't want this money flowing to other countries. We think this is a very good measure, widely popular, and it will also inject strong momentum into the economy."

Based on approximately 240 million American adult citizens, the plan is expected to cost about $1.2 trillion, making it one of the largest economic stimulus plans in the United States since the COVID-19 pandemic.
