Circle will reduce the limits of the legacy USDC cross-chain protocol CCTP V1 starting October 31, and suspend the contract on December 1.
October 30: Circle plans to gradually reduce the burn limits of the legacy Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol CCTP V1 starting October 31, 2026, and to suspend the relevant contracts on December 1, after which USDC cross-chain transfers via the legacy routes will no longer be possible. The new version of CCTP (formerly CCTP V2) uses separate contracts and APIs and is not backward compatible; applications, wallets, and bridge services using the old version will need to proactively update their integrations. Circle stated that it will retain sufficient mint allowance to ensure that proven pending transfers are completed before the suspension, but the specific limit tiers and intermediate adjustment dates have not yet been disclosed.
In addition, the Noble chain will not integrate with the new version of CCTP, and Circle plans to suspend its USDC contract and remaining cross-chain routes on January 12, 2027. Holders on Noble need to transfer out their USDC before that date. Circle will take a snapshot of remaining balances on the day of suspension and start manual redemptions from January 13; applicants must meet compliance and security requirements and hold assets in self-custodied wallets.
