OpenAI Releases GPT-6.1 Terra With 50% Lower API Prices

October 27 — OpenAI posted on X that it has launched GPT-6.1 Terra, which focuses on computer operation capabilities and can understand screen content and execute actions across applications. Compared with GPT-5.6 Terra, the new model's standard API price is 50% lower; on the Agents’ Last Exam test, which measures agents' ability to use office software, its performance is comparable to GPT-6 Astra, yet its per-token price is only one-tenth of the latter's, and its average task completion speed is more than 3 times that of GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol. GPT-6.1 Terra is available starting today to Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users of ChatGPT Work and Codex, and developers can also use it via API.
