Security Firm Founded by Former DOGE Members Says It Breached Anthropic's Systems in Under 12 Hours
October 27: According to The Washington Post, AI cybersecurity startup Cathedral, founded by former members of the U.S. "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE), says its AI agent breached Anthropic's internal systems in less than 12 hours, obtaining meeting records, compensation and hiring information, Slack messages and other content. Anthropic confirmed the party accessed some sales, human resources and IT systems, involving business contact information of customers and partners and records of some basic user accounts, but that Claude user conversations, source code and model weights were not involved. The test was conducted under Anthropic's bug bounty program, and the intrusion was achieved through a vulnerability in third-party commercial software; Anthropic accused Cathedral of not fully disclosing its actions, violating the program's rules. Cathedral is valued at $1.4 billion and has raised $160 million from a16z, Sequoia Capital and others.
