Akash launches governance vote to migrate network from Cosmos to Solana
October 27 — According to an official announcement from Akash Network, the decentralized cloud computing network Akash has launched governance proposal 346, which proposes migrating the network from its Cosmos sovereign chain akashnet-2 to the Solana mainnet. Voting began at 23:02 Beijing time on October 26 and will end at 23:02 on November 2, with votes in favor currently accounting for about 98.29%.
Under the proposal, if it passes and the audits of the token and migration portal are completed (expected to take 2 to 3 weeks), AKT will launch on Solana as an SPL token, migrating 1:1 while retaining its ticker symbol; the one-way migration portal will be open for 2 years, and staked AKT must first be unstaked (21 days) before it can be migrated. The proposal sets no cutover date; the market migration requires a separate switch proposal. Akash said its choice of Solana was mainly driven by factors including operating costs under load, the absence of a single operator, and the concentration of the DePIN ecosystem.
