November 8 — According to Yonhap News Agency, a US State Department spokesperson said in a written response on the Binance hack that coordination among governments is essential to countering North Korea's cyber activities, and called on all UN member states to implement existing sanctions on North Korea to prevent it from raising funds for its weapons programs. The spokesperson said coordinated unilateral sanctions are a powerful tool for blocking financial flows that fund weapons proliferation, but did not disclose whether the investigation findings have been shared with South Korea or whether bilateral consultations on additional sanctions have been held. Previously, the US FBI had blamed North Korean hackers for the hack.
