On October 18, citing Hong Kong media HK01, Hong Kong's "BBB Group" (Chinese name: 好好好集团) claims to invest in the agarwood industry in Malaysia and sells over-the-counter stocks and digital assets, in what is suspected to be a scam. The company said it would convert OTC stocks into "digital asset" cryptocurrencies by or before February 2027. It is reported that Hong Kong police have received reports from 21 people, involving about HK$14 million in investment projects. The Commercial Crime Bureau is investigating the case as "conspiracy to defraud," and an arrest operation has been launched with four people arrested so far.
In addition, according to the official website of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, "Malaysia Agarwood Plantation Investment / Agarwood Tree Scheme / Agarwood Potted Trees / APT4.0" has been listed as a suspicious investment product.
