Bitcoin Core Found to Have Three New Vulnerabilities, Fixes Released in Multiple Versions
Oct 29, 08:16
October 29: According to Bitcoin News, three new vulnerabilities were discovered in the Bitcoin Core program, one of which allows attackers to remotely crash nodes. The first vulnerability allows a malicious peer to crash Bitcoin nodes running on Windows, macOS, or BSD by exhausting memory, while Linux nodes are unaffected. The second vulnerability allows an attacker to gradually exhaust node memory, and the third could corrupt blockchain undo data. Two of the vulnerabilities were discovered by the AI-driven Project Loupe at Spiral, and the other was independently identified by L0RINC. Fixed versions are available in Bitcoin Core 29.5, 30.4, 31.2, and 32.1, but some configurations remain affected by the third issue.
